The way I explain it to non-technical people is that Business Intelligence (BI) software turns raw data into information you can actually act on. Instead of digging through spreadsheets, you get dashboards, reports, and visualizations that help answer questions like “What’s driving sales?”, “Which products are underperforming?”, or “Where are we losing customers?”
Companies use BI because it helps teams make faster, data-backed decisions. Marketing, finance, operations, and leadership can all work from the same set of metrics instead of relying on guesswork. The software itself doesn’t make decisions—it just makes it much easier to spot trends, identify problems, and measure performance over time.
