AI reviewing applications make the process faster, fairer, and purely skill-based

Remove bias by focusing on actual performance, not just resumes.

It gives data professionals a real chance to stand out.

Trusting AI in hiring is a step toward smarter, merit-driven careers.

I get the intention behind using AI in hiring speed things up, focus on skills, remove human bias. Sounds great on paper. But in reality? I’m not so convinced.

AI systems are only as good as the data they’re trained on. If past hiring decisions were biased, that bias can easily get baked into the algorithm just hidden behind the illusion of objectivity. We’ve already seen cases where AI filters out great candidates because of unconventional career paths, non-traditional resumes, or even keywords they didn’t use.

Also, “purely skill-based” is a nice idea, but real-world hiring isn’t just about hard skills. Communication, adaptability, team fit these things are hard to quantify, and AI doesn’t always pick them up well.

And let’s be honest most people don’t even know how these AI systems work, what criteria they’re optimizing for, or how their applications are being scored. That lack of transparency is a big red flag.

I’d be open to AI reviewing my application if it means a fairer shot, why not?
Sometimes resumes don’t tell the full story, especially in data roles.
If AI can look at actual skills and performance, that feels more honest.
It’s reassuring to know I’ll be judged by what I can do, not just where I’ve worked.
Of course, it’s not perfect but it’s a step in the right direction.
I’d rather be assessed on real work than keywords on a CV.
If AI can help level the playing field, I’m all for it.
